Take Action: Help Abused Young Elephant Gain Freedom

At the end of last month, Paul McCartney stopped an Olympic rehearsal and sent a plea to the Indian Forest Minister, asking him to secure the release of an abused young elephant named Sunder.   Now, PETA India has obtained new photographic evidence of the abuse that the elephant is enduring while being used as a living begging bowl and beaten by a vicious, inept young trainer.

You can help! Join Paul McCartney and PETA in urging the Maharashtra Forest Minister to use his authority to rescue Sunder and send him to a sanctuary.  It takes only a minute to send this email. Sunder would appreciate it!

Take Action: End Black Bear And Bobcat Hunting In California

  • California voters have expressed their views against mountain lion hunting in two statewide ballot measures in 1990 and 1996. While mountain lions are protected from the cruelty of hound hunting, other predators are not. California does not currently prohibit hound hunting of black bear and bobcats.
  • Hounding is an inhumane and unsporting practice where trophy hunters use packs of radio-collared dogs to chase down bears and bobcats before the hunter shoots the terrified animal off a tree branch.
  • Please take a minute and submit the form at this link to automatically send a brief, polite message of support to your state assembly member to encourage them to support SB 1221 and put a stop to the inhumane hound hunting of bears and bobcats in California.

Take Action: Speak Out Against Smoking Experiments On Animals

Why are tobacco companies still testing cigarettes on animals?  It is cruel and totally unnecessary!  To quote the National Cancer Institute, “There is no safe tobacco product.”  We already know from clinical research, and from basic common sense, that smoking is bad for us.  You can email the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and request that it follow the lead of agencies in progressive countries by banning cruel tobacco tests on animals.  The email address at the FDA’s Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee is:  tpsac@fda.hhs.gov

Animal Rights Group Wants Pamplona Bull Run Banned

Animal welfare group Vier Pfoten (Four Paws) urged Spanish authorities Friday to ban the famous Pamplona bull run, which left 22 people injured and 42 bulls dead this week. The run - which sees bulls rushed along Pamplona’s streets and then forced to fight in the arena during the San Fermin festival - is a form of cruelty against animals that would be punishable with prison in other European countries.

If you don’t want to be beaten, imprisoned, mutilated, killed ot tortured, then you shouldn’t condone such behaviour towards anyone, be they human or not.
