New Study: Swap Mushrooms For Meat And Lose Weight -
Researchers from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Weight Management Center released the findings of a year-long clinical trial that found when obese participants swapped one cup of white button mushrooms for a serving of red meat they lost weight and lost body fat.
“We chose to study mushrooms both because of their nutritional qualities, and because they make a good meat replacement. They have essentially no calories and zero fat, plus several micronutrients.”

New Study: Fish Oil Does Not Improve Heart Health -
Supplementing with omega-3 fatty acids does not improve heart health, according to a new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Researchers analyzed data from 12,513 men and women from the Risk and Prevention Study in Italy. The Dark Side Of Greek Yogurt -
The latest in “healthy” foods that are not actually good for us is Greek yogurt. Every three to four ounces of milk produces only one ounce of the creamy snack, and what’s left becomes acid whey, “a thin, runny waste product” too toxic to dump because whey decomposition could potentially turn waterways into aquatic-life-destroying “dead seas.”
There are endless choices of non-dairy yogurts that are not loaded with fat, sugar or animal proteins - none of which are associated with negative environmental impacts.

Palm oil is a globally traded commodity that is used in 50 percent of all consumer goods, from lipstick and packaged food to body lotion and biofuels. Used in about half of the products on supermarket shelves, palm oil imports to the U.S. have jumped 485% in the last decade.
This has resulted in severe negative impacts on the environment, the climate, and local populations.

Today, the popularity of quinoa (pronounced KEEN-wah) is growing steadily as people discover its pleasant nutty taste. Here are some helpful hints in preparing my favorite superfood…!

India Bans Captive Dolphin Shows as 'Morally Unacceptable' -
India has become the fourth country (along with Costa Rica, Hungary and Chile) to ban captive dolphin and orca shows, like those featured at “parks” such as Sea World.
India has declared that cetaceans’ high level of intelligence grants them the status of “non-human persons,” which elevates the animals’ rights. The new law partly stems from the fact that cetaceans do not historically fare well in captivity.
